Hack Fall And Rushton Triangular Lodge, July 2009

These photos are from two completely different trips, but both vaguely related. The first one was to Hack Fall on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Hack Fall is a very quiet and beautiful woodland, full of strange follies such as a fake castle and a fake ruined temple. Sadly my camera battery died, so I'll have to go back and get some more photos another time!

The second trip was to another folly, the Triangular Lodge at Rushton in Northamptonshire. It was designed by Sir Thomas Tresham in 1593 when he was released from prison having served a long sentence for refusing to become a Protestant. The number three features prominently in the building, in an apparent two fingered salute to the Church Of England.
