The next three days saw our group of 18 or so floating lazily down the Nile on three Feluccas, which are traditional sailing dinghies. Each boat had a crew of two, who were from the Nubian village we had visited before. Each lunch we would raft up and eat lunch cooked on one of the boats, and each evening we would moor up and eat dinner together. The crew would then light a fire, have a few beers, and we would all dance round the fire singing our hearts out, even though we had no idea what the words meant. Probably "bloody tourists". When we could take no more, we retired to the boats to sleep.
The warm sunny days were spent sitting on the deck (not that there was anywhere else to go) drinking tea and beer and playing cards with the crew. We stopped off occasionally to see temples or interesting sights, or if someone needed the loo...
